Peanut Butter Bar Pumpkins

I'm so happy to be posting my first treats in my new but temporary kitchen. It's been a very busy summer as we sold our home of over 13 years and are in the process of building a new one. I will have a to post a photo on my next post of the latest progress!

As I was making the peanut butter bars yesterday, I was also on the royal watch along with countless others. Sadly, Queen Elizabeth passed. Today I watched as King Charles III delivered his first speech even as he was mourning the passing of his beloved mother.

On two occasions I've stood outside of Buckingham Palace's gates and wondered what must it be like inside and to be able to freely walk those historic halls. On those trips to London, I was a little disappointed to find the palace was not open for tours.

Yesterday, my daughter called to ask me if she watched Princess Diana's wedding. I told her, yes! She had just turned a year old and we watched everything for months leading up to the royal wedding!

I'm quite happy to be living in America without a monarchy, but I will say, I have always been fascinated by the royal family.

God Save the King!

Now y'all, these peanut butter bars are really quick and easy to make and so yummy too!

Simple ingredients you probably have on hand make these convenient as well.

An 8x8 pan lined with parchment paper and sprayed with cooking spray
makes these bars easy to lift out and cut.

To decorate our bars, we need orange icing (for which I don't have a photo), green icing tube with leaf tip, and Tootsie Rolls.

Cut pieces of Tootsie Rolls to shape into pumpkins stems.

Pipe or spread orange frosting onto cut bars. I used a can of white frosting and tinted it orange.

You need only to press the already sticky chocolate candy pieces onto the peanut butter bars. They will stick on their own!

Pipe small green leaves on either side of the pumpkin "stem".

Y'all try these! Hubby loves them!

Peanut Butter Bars Recipe

3 cups crispy rice cereal
1 cup salted peanuts
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla

Prepare 8x8 pan by lining and spraying with cooking spray.

Combine cereal and peanuts in a large heatproof bowl. Set aside. To a medium saucepan, add sugar and corn syrup. Cook, stirring constantly over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter and vanilla. Pour cooked mixture over cereal and peanuts, stirring to combine. Gently press cereal mixture into prepared pan. Let cool and cut. Makes 16 bars.

Easter Bunnies Hiding in the Grass Rice Krispie Treats

These sweet little bunnies would like to wish you a Happy Easter..if you can find them that is!!

Or you can just make some yourself with the kiddos!
Either way you're in for a treat, a Rice Krispies treat!
I made my own cereal treats because the ones I bought at the store were just way too small for my sunny bunnies. I used the recipe on the back of the cereal box.

I also used pink, green, and white fondant, blue candy melts, black sugar pearlspastel candy pearls, and jelly bean bird eggs.
I had this "bunny in the grass" idea floating around in my head but I needed the perfect cutters and I found them both here at JB Cookie Cutters!

Click on the link for the bunny face cutter, and here for the grass cutter.

I used cookie sticks for my treats and toothpicks to gently remove the fondant from the smaller cutters.
Let's make some bunny faces! Roll out fondant and if needed use a little confectioner's sugar on the cutters to prevent sticking.

I used the ear and mouth cutters. I didn't use the eye or nose cutters as I'm using the candy pearls for those instead.
The bunnies were easy to assemble using a food safe paintbrush. Just dab a little water to attach the fondant pieces. Gently press the eyes and nose into the face. You can also use a teeny dab of corn syrup to make sure they don't fall out!

These eyes!
"Here comes Peter Cottontail..."
Roll out green fondant,
Swish cutter around in powdered sugar and press into fondant to cut through.
Just one cut and you get two rows of fresh cut grass!

Cut a piece of grass the same width as your Rice Krispies treat to fit.
Dip rice krispies treats in melted candy to coat. I also like to dip the end of cookie stick in melted candy before inserting into treat for a sturdier hold.
Lay on parchment paper to set.
Welcome to Sugartown Sweets Candy Factory! To each RKT attach bunnies, grass, and jelly beans with a little melted candy.
I made this one with green sprinkles and left the face intact.
For the hiding bunnies I cut off the lower portion of the face so they wouldn't be too bulky with the grass. I'm sorry little guy!
So easy and fun and now we're done!
Be still my heart he's so adorable!

Thanks for stopping by.
I wish you all a very Happy Easter, Karen💗

Airheads Balloon Pops!

Hello Airheads Fans!

If you're in need of an edible holiday treat just "bursting with flavor" then I'm so glad you're here..you've found it.
We're made with Airheads and Rice Krispies Treats.

And Whee.. flew in just in time for your 4th of July celebrations!
Using red and white Airheads, I've tried to re-create that lovable and iconic, smiling red balloon. And..since it's the 4th and all, I made a blue one to go with!
It took two packaged bars of candy for each balloon.
Fold together and roll out the candy with a rolling pin. I have found that the candy holds up better if you don't warm it in the microwave.

Lightly spray balloon cookie cutter (plus the decorator tips) with no-stick spray. Wipe off excess.
Cut out balloon with cookie cutter.

Now to make the face, I used metal cake decorating tips in two sizes as well as the edge of my balloon cutter. The balloon cutter was perfect for cutting out that beautiful big smile!

The edge of the larger tip worked great for the nose and the edge of the smaller tip worked for the smile crinkles.

I cut two equal and tiny sections to roll into the eyes.
Ok Blue, it's your turn!
~Smiles~
Use the balloon cutter to cut out the shapes using your favorite Rice Krispies Treats recipe.
To give the pops a bit more stability, I used candy melts to dip the ends of lollipops before inserting them.

We all love the new softer Airheads and since they're so nice and soft, I cut out white fondant balloons to place under the Airheads. I just didn't want little bumpy faces. Eewww!
I forgot to include a dab of canned frosting (or maybe corn syrup) in my photo. I used it to attach the balloons to the treats.
Now that we're all done..we're fairly floating on air!
 Umm..hmmm..he said it!
Wishing You All a Safe & Happy 4th of July!

Thanks for stopping by Sugartown Sweets!

Edible Beach Candle Craft

I'm Back!

It's been a very long 6 weeks!

I'm still recuperating from my foot surgery but a nice little anniversary trip to the Outer Banks surely helped me on my way.

I've had this sweet little beach craft on my sketch pad for a few weeks now and I'm so happy to finally be sharing it with you.
Hope you're all enjoying your summer and your own relaxing trips to the seashore.
Can you guess what this fondant covered "candle" is made of?
If you guessed Rice Krispies Treats..then yes!

Make up a batch of these cereal treats. Use a round cookie cutter to cut three circles. Fill and frost the layers as you would a cake. I used ready made canned frosting.
To cover candle, roll out fondant. I used a tape measure (not pictured) around my cutter to determine the width of fondant needed to wrap my candle. I used a ruler to measure how tall my candle was to determine the length.

Wrap candle with fondant strip. I realized I needed a slightly larger diameter cutter to cut my candle topper piece as the fondant added to the girth of the candle.

A small lollipop stick inserted into the center of the candle made the opening for the "wick".

Any guesses as to what I used for the wick?
 Did you guess Twizzlers Pull'n'Peels?

Haha..funny story. Could not find these anywhere..and I tried 7 different stores. My sweet hubby ordered them online for me. So..yesterday I saw them at Wal-mart and CVS!
 You know the drill..just pull'n'peel.
Snip off a piece of the white candy to insert into the opening atop the candle for the wick.
I am crushing up some graham crackers for my sand.
This was reeely fun and so easy. I wanted to make a few marbled seashells along with some white ones.

I used 1 part light brown fondant to about 3 parts white.
Just fold and twist till you achieve the color you're happy with.
The Wilton sea life fondant mold is so easy to work with and 'shore' makes lovely and realistic looking seashells! Just press fondant into mold and then pop them out.
The perfect embellishment for my beach themed candle.

I was a June bride many years ago.

I'm thinking this would make a beautiful table display for a beach themed wedding!
I think I'm gonna enjoy mine on my table for a couple more weeks..who knows, maybe it will inspire another trip to the beach before summer's end!
Our beautiful spot to enjoy amazing sunsets on Pamlico Sound, Hatteras Island, Outer Banks.
Thank you so much for dropping by
